Sport Heroes
Sport Heroes announces a €2 million fundraising round.
Ader Finance supported Sport Heroes throughout its fundraising process.
The purpose of this investment is to structure and accelerate growth driven by a clear mission: making society more active by encouraging sports participation. The three activities of Running Heroes are now unified under a single brand, “Sport Heroes”, in order to clarify its offering of digital sports experience creation.
Labelled a “Cool Vendor” in 2015 by the prestigious research and advisory firm Gartner for its innovations in consumer–brand engagement, Sport Heroes now aims to leverage its achievements to expand into large international markets.
Through major partnerships with leading apps, GPS watches, and connected devices on the market (Nike+, RunKeeper, Garmin, Endomondo, Strava, Polar, Suunto, Fitbit, Withings), Sport Heroes initially used data generated by sports activity through the development of Runningheroes.com, Cyclingheroes.com and Skiingheroes.com. Thanks to a points system accumulated during training sessions, users receive rewards and discounts offered by major brands. This represents a new way of thinking about brand engagement in a positive and rewarding manner.
With more than 300,000 members and 200 partners, these communities have become major references in the sports sector, acting as key media platforms in running and cycling in France. This offering is now unified under the name Communities of Heroes.
All these activities aim to position Sport Heroes as the global leader in connected digital sports, using raw athlete data—often underutilized elsewhere in the sports industry—to create fun and inspiring digital sports experiences. The company has developed strong expertise in aggregating, processing, interpreting and leveraging vast amounts of unused data.
This €2 million fundraising comes at a strategic time for Sport Heroes, which is growing rapidly and experiencing strong momentum in France, where it aims to consolidate its position and differentiated approach in the running market and more broadly in sports.
Boris Pourreau, CEO and co-founder of Sport Heroes, comments: “These €2 million from A Plus Finance, business angels and Bpifrance support our international expansion to meet the needs of our clients across several continents. With nearly 200 regular clients including major brands and a market ready for solutions, the goal is to reach €3 million in revenue this year.”
The two offices opened nearly a year ago in London and Sydney each now employ four people. This acceleration goes hand in hand with the strengthening of a solid team in France, which now includes 37 employees and is expected to grow further with new technical, creative and commercial profiles.
Guillaume Girard, Managing Partner at A Plus Finance, adds: “The complementarity of the offering, the quality of execution and the dynamism of an immediately addressable market are key factors for the rapid development of a project. The Sport Heroes team is ideally positioned to take a unique place in its market very quickly.”
